A Perfect Kilt Skate Day in Calgary

David Aftergood reports from the 10th Annual Great Canadian Kilt Skate in Calgary, Sunday, February 11.

“We had an amazing day. The weather was perfect, sunny and +4C for the 10th Annual Calgary Kilt Skate.

“We had the St. Andrews Caledonian Choir sing O'Canada in Gaelic and English, along with other favorite Scottish selections.

“We also had a wonderful show by a local Highland Dancing group accompanied by the Scottish Society pipers, who also played a selection of pipe songs including a rendition of Amazing Grace.

“Lots of Kilt Skaters whirled around the Olympic Plaza ice as we served over 150 cups of Tim Hortons Hot Chocolate and Timbits to the skaters.

“Finally we had the local media City TV news, Global news and the Calgary Herald show up to take picture and interviews and publish them for public distribution.

“Everyone had a very enjoyable afternoon.”

Calgary’s Great Canadian Kilt Skate was featured as an event of Chinook Blast — Calgary’s signature winter festival.

Well done, Calgary. And congratulations to the team at the St. Andrew-Caledonian Society of Calgary.
