Report from Toronto
/Over the years, Toronto’s version of the Great Canadian Kilt Skate has been held in a variety of locations — from the City Hall ice down by the Henry Moore, to the ice pathways at the Evergreen Brick Works. This year, an enthusiastic skating party assembled at the Leaside Memorial Community Gardens.
Kilts and tartans: wear ‘em if you got ‘em. Toronto’s Great Canadian Kilt Skate was one of 15 held this year in Canada, the United States and Scotland.
The Scots are a pragmatic people. If it makes more sense to wear snowpants under your kilt, well that’s your choice, isn’t it. The Toronto skate was held on February 21 as part of an International Kilt Skate Weekend that also saw kilt skates organized in:
Renfrewshire, Scotland, February 21. 2026;
Halifax, NS, February 21, 2026;
Montreal, QC, February 21, 2026;
Ottawa, ON, February 21, 2026;
Toronto, ON, February 21, 2026;
Concord, NH, February 22, 2026;
South Glengarry, ON, February 22, 2026;
Renfrew. ON, February 22. 2026; and
Fergus, ON, February 22, 2026.
Nothing like an easy skate to stir up conversation. Family and old friends get together, and make new friends.
Fun for the whole family.
Well done, Toronto. See you again next year.
